Prime ministers of Jammu and Kashmir

Kashmir is divided into two parts, Indian occupied Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir soon after Britishers left India. 

1. Indian occupied Kashmir is also known as Indian administrative Kashmir or Jammu and Kashmir. Till the year 1965, there was a prime minister elected in the state of Kashmir, but after 1965 that post is replaced with the chief minister. Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq was the last prime minister and first chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

1. Mehr Chand Mahajan - He was in office from 15 October 1947 to 5 March 1948
2. Sheikh Abdullah(1905 - 1982) - He was in office from 5 March 1948 to 9 August 1953
3. Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad - He was in office from 9 August 1953 to 29 February 1964
4. Khwaja Shamsuddin - He was in office from 12 October 1963 to 29 February 1964
5. Ghulam Mohammed Sadiq(1912 – 1971) - He was in office from 29 February 1964 to 30 March 1965
